MEET THE NEW MAYHEMMERS

Change is a constant here at Project Mayhem. Yesterday we said a tearful good-bye to our magnificent Canadian correspondent, Yahong Chi, who Is taking her Mayhem magic to further studies in higher education. We wish her the very best.

We also have a couple of contributors out on sabbatical. The rest of us continue to hone our skills in all facets of the writer's life, as well as rigorous training in swordplay, jousting, and climbing walls of ice. (Can you tell I've been watching a wee bit of Game of Thrones?)

With the buds and blooms of spring, it seemed a fine time to bring on a couple more recruits. They all received their letters via Owl Post, and I am happy to say they have embarked on the Mayhem Express, and will be adding to the constant excitement that is Project Mayhem.

Without further ado, let me introduce the newest stars of the blogosphere:

Kell Andrews writes nonfiction for adults and fiction for children. A little bit of magic helps with both. Deadwood, her middle-grade contemporary fantasy about a cursed tree, comes out from Spencer Hill Middle Grade in June 2014. Growing up, she spent a lot of time reading, writing, drawing, and looking for treasure in the woods and on the beach. She still does. Kell holds a humanities degree from Johns Hopkins University and a master of liberal arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania. A lifelong Philadelphian, she lives with her husband and two daughters in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, right next to a park a lot like the one in Deadwood. Kell is represented by Kathleen Rushall of Marsal Lyon Literary Agency.

Jim Hill: Flaming Snot Rockets! Jim is a mild mannered designer by day, and children's book creator by night. He writes middle-grade and young adult stories packed with humor, heart and lots of action. He is a member of SCBWI, the Vice-President of the Cape Cod Writers Center and graduated with an MFA in Creative Writing for Children & Young Adults from VCFA in January 2014.

Joanna Roddy ~ Joanna is a freelance writer and novelist, represented by The Cooke Agency. Growing up, Joanna could usually be found up a tree with a book or onstage in a costume. Her favorite stories have always been about new worlds, magic, and adventure, and her first novel, Jules and the Djinn Master, is a middle grade fantasy in the tradition of the books she loved to read growing up. She lives in a little blue farmhouse called Mapleside with her son, daughter, husband, and two cats in the Seattle area and when she's not writing or taking care of her littles, she can be found gardening, teaching high school composition, and, of course, reading.

  1. Welcome, Kell, Jim, and Joanna! Nice to have you joining us!

Kell, we are practically neighbors! I live south of West Grove, near the Delaware state line. I'll have to keep you in mind for possible joint MG book events -- like maybe at Children's Book World in Haverford? Just did the Teen Writer Festival at Little Flower High School. I probably passed right by you on my way!

  2. Hi Dianne! I would love to do joint events. I need to get more connected locally -- trying not to be a hermit!
